Brave New World

I have decided after many years of he standard cell phone to try a Smartphone. I decided I was going to try and get more organized and these phones help tremendously. The only problem was that I couldn’t make up my mind if I wanted a Blackberry Storm or a new Palm.

I started looking around and I found the Samsung Omnia. I had never seen one or held one before I ordered it.

Well it has taken me a little time but I am really enjoying it. The thing has so many features that I know I will never use all of them. Hope all is well sorry for the delay in posting I hope to write a good post soon to catch everyone up with what is going on.

A Week Of Firsts

I just spent the last week in Gatlinburg and then West Virginia with my students on a conference / skiing trip.  I did something I never thought I would do….

This was my first mistake.  Putting the skis on.

This was the big mistake…Moving.  I was not the fan of skiing.  I just kept seeing me killing some poor innocent person on a family vacation.

I will say this though this is where I belong on these trips…

Merry Christmas

I hope that everyone is gearing up for a great Christmas. I will tell you one thing this is by far one of my favorite times of the year. I have been extremely busy the past few weeks with multiple things at church. Not to mention just the business that the holidays bring. I have really enjoyed the time I have been able to spend with my friends and family though. I am looking forward to the next few days.

The best thing of all this season so far is to see the miracles I have been able to witness in the lives of my friends John, Seth and Christian. All of them have had babies born in the last 2 months. John and Margaret had Charlie in November, Christian and Lindsey had Maddie on Dec 11th, and Seth and Lindsey had Asher Dec 18th. It is such an awesome thing to see the lives of my friends change in such drastic ways. When I am holding their newborns I can not help but think what God has in-store for their little lives. I hope that I am able to play a small part in the big story our Lord has for each of them.

My friends Corey and Lindsey are expecting their son in March. In case you are wondering yes all of my friends married Lindseys. I really hope that each of you are looking forward to the holidays and hope you are all able to spend it with the people that you love. It makes it even that more special. I hope you all know what you mean to me.

Merry Christmas and May God Bless each of your families so much in the year to come.

FYI.. If you have nothing going on Christmas Eve night we have a great service at the church at 9pm. I know it is late but I would love to spend Christmas Eve with all of you.

Christmas Time is Here

This is totally my favorite time of year. I love Christmas so much. I have been listening to Chritmas music since October to get me ready. It has been a busy last few weeks. We hired a new youth pastor Josh Malone to fill Ricks position at the church. I am excited about new opportunities that are coming. I do miss my buddy Rick though.

I am going to North Carolina this weekend with my mom because Mattie is in a Christmas play at her daycare. I find it hard to believe that we are going to drive so far for someone who hates Santa Clause. My mom would not have it any other way though. I am excited about a little time off too. I really love going to Allisons we always have a lot of fun.

This Wednesday is the Hanging of the Green service at church. It is one of my most favorite services we have. If you are not busy try to come it is at 6pm. It never disappoints.

Well I hope to write more soon. Hope all is well.

TJ’s Wedding and DC Trip

Well Seth, Geer and I had a great trip to Maryland for TJ.s wedding.  It was a long weekend buyt it was worth it we had a great time.  It was awesome to get the chance to spend time with TJ and be there for his special day.  Here are a few pictures from the wedding.

The happy couple.  TJ and Tracy Marshall.

We also had the opportunity to go into DC while we were in Maryland.  Geer had never been there so we felt it was our job to walk the 52 miles to show him.  I wore the wrong shoes the first day and it was down here from there.  It was also snowing and there were hurricane type winds all weekend.  It was totally worth it though.  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  I will be posting some new pictures of Mattie up soon.  She is growing like a weed.

Where to Start?

Man it has been a long time since my last post.  Sorry about that.  It has been a pretty crazy November.  School, Work, and College football has kept me pretty busy.  I am enjoying two of those but the latter I am not so impressed with.  I am getting ready to go to Maryland this weekend for TJs wedding.  Seth, Geer, and I are leaving on Thursday to head toward Maryland for the weekend.  I am looking forward to having a little bit of time off and some time to do a little site seeing as well.  I think we are going to go to Washington DC on Friday.  I am having to do half of the ceremony because her father is a preacher.  I have to do the [part up until I ask who gives this woman…  I am so excited… Well maybe excited is not the right word…

I am also getting ready for Thanksgiving.  Allison, Matt, and Mattie are coming in for a little while.  I am ready to see them it has been a long time since they have been here.  I am a little bumbed out because i have really enjoyed going up there the past few years for Thanksgiving.  Since the Iron Bowl is that weekend Matt is coming home to go to the game.  I will be watching that one at home no doubt.

Here is a new picture of Mattie.

She is so awesome.  I hope that everyone is getting ready for a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Sorry I have been so bad about writing.  I will work on it I promise.

Sad Day

I must admit I am a little sad by the election of Obama as our next president.  I must admit that I am not the most political guy ever but, I sure sent my support the way of McCain.  I did however have an awesome opportunity to go inside one of McCains tour buses today.

I Felt Like a Kid Again

This year was the first time I have dressed up for Halloween since I was a kid.  I usually do not do much for Halloween but my buddies decided to have a costume party this year and I didnt want to be the one that didnt show up dressed.  It is hard being bald and big to decide on a costume.  Sam gave me a great idea so this is what I went with.

Uncle Fester from the Adams Family.

Thanks to Jenny for applying all of my makeup.  This was also the first time I have covered my entire head in makeup.  I was not the biggest fan of that at all.  We had a good time and I was glad I decided to dress up because everyone else did.  I guess sometimes it is fun acting like a kid.

Consumed By Grace 5th Quarter

I recently had the opportunity to to speak at a 5th Quarter sponsored by the group that I lead with Brian and Gina Harbison at Southside High School.  The group is called Consumed by Grace.  I really enjoy this group we meet every Thursday morning in the library at the school.  There is normally around 60 or so students that attend.  It is excited being a part of something at the high school that I graduated from.  There is something different about the students that are apart of the group.

Last night we had probably around 100 students at Southside Baptist Church for the 5th Quarter.  It was fun getting the chance to hang out with them outside of school.  I am looking forward to our next event together.  We were supposed to have a tailgate thing before the game but we had so much rain yesterday that I could not pull it together.

Well I hope that everyone has had a great weekend.  Remember me Monday I have a test in my Old Testament class.
